Patriarch / Matriarch
Anthony & Felicia Giordano
|
This site is for the members of the Giordano Family of Long Island, New York. The family began in the United States with our Patriarch Anthony Giordano (1866-1956) and his wife Felicia [Palladino] Giordano (1878-1949), pictured at the left.
They had eight children; Angelina (Angie), Virginia (Regina), Joseph, Vincenzo (Jimmy), Patrick, Frank, Madeline (Millie) and Louis, in order of birth.
The site includes a "Family Tree" page where you can view all the family members at once. In addition, each family has their own page complete (eventually) with history and photos.
There are also photo galleries covering past events and get-togethers as well as a family archive page with notable pictures from the past.
In addition there is a current events page where members can keep others updated on family doings and upcoming events or reunions etc.
If you would like to contribute stories or photos please click the "Submit Stuff" link and follow the instructions there.
In any case, welcome, come on in and enjoy the site!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This site is divided into several sections:
The Family Tree
This is without a doubt the most important page in the entire web site. This page is a web version of our complete family tree. It is a single sideways-scrolling web page that will open in its own window. It will be updated from time to time so please let the webmaster know if there are any changes or additions that you are aware of. Please check the names & dates for your families to make sure they are correct and send any corrections to our webmaster.
The entries are color / shape coded according to the member's attributes. For example, each members box will have a colored border to indicate if they are living (Green) or deceased (Brown). Please refer to the Key at the beginning of the page. You can even print the entire page (it will take about 11 sheets of paper) and tape it together into a long scroll, or you can order preprinted printouts from the webmaster.
Navigating from the Family Tree:
The family tree is much more than a visual guide to every family member. It is a quick and easy way to get to the web page for the person/family you want to view. Simply click on the members box and you will be taken directly to their web page (if they have one).
The Family Pages
These pages are for all the families to use however they wish. They may contain stories and pictures of anything pertaining to that family. You can include photos of parents, kids pets, the house, the new boat or motor home etc. Anything you wish to share with the rest of us. These pages are made from a generic template so they can all contain a similar theme - Photos of the parents at the top, followed by smaller pictures of their children below them, including birth/death dates. Below that is a box for text on the left side. This box will contain a running dialog of information, stories and recollections of family members. To the right of this box will be room for picture boxes which can be used to illustrate the stories or simply miscellaneous photos. To see the sample layout, click HERE.
The Quick Navigation Page (Family Codes)
The Family Member Codes page can be used as a very fast way to get to any family members' pages. It is a condensed version of the Family Tree which uses only the names of the direct descendants (along with their code) and is formatted left-to-right so it takes up less width than a standard monitor window so you can see every family's complete branch at the same time. You may only have to scroll up and down a little in order to get to the family section you want. Then just click on the person whose page you want to see and you will be taken there in a new window.
The Family Photos Index
There are actually three different area to view photos: Albums, Galleries and the Family Archive. You can get to any of these pages from the Family Photos Index page.
The Albums
These sections are collections of pictures from a family's photo collection. They tell the story of that family using the best examples in their collection. They can be in any order or time fram and are captioned with a description of the people and places in the pictures.
The Galleries
These sections are for letting family members show off their photos from recent events such as weddings, births, graduations, reunions/parties or even just great vacation pictures. Each gallery will have its own page where visitors can flip through a series of pictures like a slide show. They can even download and print tem for their scrapbooks if they like. It's a great alternative to getting double prints and mailing them out to everybody one family at a time. These sets are not annotated (have descriptions) so each contributor will have an introductory page where they can describe the event associated with the gallery.
The Family Archives
This section is designed to give a historical perspective - including old photos, newspaper clippings, obituaries related to family members and important events from the past. It will also include group photos from various events that would not be specific to any particular family page.
This page is for getting to know each other and to contact one another. The profile will allow each member to list their vital statistics -age, birthday, occupation, hobbies, favorite color, etc. The Directory will contain the contact informatio for each member - name, address, phone, e-mail etc. so we can call or send a Christmas card.
News & Current Events
This page is for listing upcoming family events and get-togethers as well as a place to post news about the family in general. It will act as a quick way to reach the entire family with a single e-mail (to the webmaster). If you don't have a camera you can still tell some stories about your trip or other events instead of using the gallery page. In addition there is the Newsletters Archive page where previous newsletters can be read.
Family Calendar
The Family Calendar actually exists on another web site. It includes birthdays, anniversary dates and any upcoming Special Events. Any family member may enter his/her event into the calendar right from the calendar web page. To learn more about the calendar and how you can add a new event to it visit the Calendar Page on our own site for complete instructions.
